MAINE
SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL'S
1999-2000
SHAKESPEARE IN THE SCHOOLS
"You don't know how much fun we had interacting with
you, and of course, Shakespeare." --Jozlyn Noyes
& Emily Goodness
"The Play's The Thing"
"Our kids loved the Shakespeare
workshop yesterday and the great compliment you paid them of
such specific attention. Every child felt helped--better able to
understand his or her character and interpret the part. And all
of them have a new repertoire of language for talking about
acting."
--Nancie Atwell,
Center for Teaching & Learning, Edgecomb, Maine

SHAKESPEARE ACTING
WORKSHOPS
- Workshops in your classroom targeted for students grades
6-12
- These workshops get the students on their feet with
Shakespeare's words in their mouths. We approach the text as a
script from the point of view of the actor and director, whose
job it is to make these characters come to life and tell the
story. The workshops, for up to 30 students, are guided by an
actor and or certified teacher and are appropriate for grades
6-12. Preparation packets are provided as well as a variety of
costumes & props for the students' use.
Residencies are tailored to the
school's specific interests to support work already being done
or to introduce Shakespeare to your students in an innovative
and exciting way. They may consist of one day of independent
workshops with different classes, a progressive set of workshops
with one or more classes over a week, or a combination of the
two.
