.......Autumn is nature's purest from of ambiance... and a romantic "get away" vacation during this season will find even the most cantankerous of people subdued. A daytrip along Maine's numerous byways will find covered bridges, stubborn new England farms & pastures, pristine waterfalls, colorful lakes & ponds, spectacular scenic vistas and, of course, a chance encounter with the majestic Maine Moose! Hiking, canoeing, bicycling, apple picking, foliage boat cruises and nature photography are especially rewarding activities from mid September thru October. And Crescent lake Cottages is centrally located between the White Mountains and Maine's rocky coastline so guest may embrace a variety of Autumn settings. Douglass Mountain, a 45 minute ride from Crescent Lake Cottages, offers spectacular foliage filled horizons. The avid canoeist may choose this season to embark upon the Crooked River for a day or overnight excursion into Maine's foliage filled woodlands.

.......Autumn also means county fairs and visitors will simply adore the Cumberland and Fryeburg Fair's which run the last week of September thru the first week of October. These popular fairs combine with the beauty of autumn in providing superb family fun in an invigorating outdoor setting. We will gladly send a Program of Events fro the Cumberland and Fryeburg Fair's.

.......Hunting season for pheasant and grouse is early October thru December (locally) and numerous area woods roads provide abundant opportunity for the gamebird hunter. Whitetail deer, our prime attraction for the large game hunter have an open season from October 31th thru Nov 28th and with Maine's deer population now heavily concentrated in southern Maine local weigh-ins over 200 lbs are a sure bet!
