OLD MILL CAMPGROUND, CABINS & MARINA
ON MOOSEHEAD LAKE

Welcome!

Old Mill Campground is on the west shore of Moosehead Lake overlooking Mt. Kineo. Our campsites can be primitive or have electric and water hookup. They can be secluded or in the open--most of our sites are on or near the shore.

Our shorefront cabins are fully equipped for light housekeeping. They each have a gas range, refrigerator, dishes, utensils, linens, towels, shower, toilet, gas or oil heat or a woodburning stove. Our rates are as follows. We do not have a radio, TV or small electrical appliances other than a toaster, but you are welcome to bring them if you like. Our biggest cabin will sleep up to eight.

In the months of May, June and late September, the landlocked salmon, lake and brook trout are biting near the surface, but in the warm weather be prepared to troll the deeper waters with lead line or down-riggers. If you bring your own boat, our docks are available to you at $4 to $6 a day. We have gas and oil at our docking-launching area. We also have motor boats and canoe rentals available.

For swimming, we have an area overlooking Mt. Kineo that slopes out gently.

If you decide to join us this fall for hunting, you will be happy to know that Rockwood is surrounded by paper company owned lands and, because of this, you will NOT find many fences or "No Hunting" signs. You can walk from your cabin to hunting areas or you can travel onto the old logging roads that criss-cross nearby woods.
