Local Activities

Clean, rustic cabins for your enjoyment

The Moosehead Lake area offers a quiet, laid back, uncrowded backwoods type atmosphere for those families and individuals who want to "get away from it all." Almost all activities are outdoor oriented. Families should bring plenty of games and toys to keep kids occupied for those occasional bad weather days

Winter

We are ten miles from Squaw Mountain Resort for downhill skiing. Groomed snowmobile trails (ITS 86) and the Mooshead Trail await you from your door. Cross country skiing and ice fishing are also available.

Spring, Summer and Fall

Lawrence's Registered Guide Services are available for salmon and trout fishing, bear, moose, deer and grouse hunting.

For the novice or experienced fisherman there is open water fly fishing, casting or trolling for landlocked salmon, lake trout and brook trout. This part of Moosehead Lake offers excellent Moose watching and photography, along with many great hiking trails along with rock climbing for the energetic. We offer or are nearby plenty of watersport activities, including boating, rafting and canoeing. Sightseeting, bicycling, lake swimming, and float plane rides round out your outdoor relaxation.

Directions

The are two ways to reach Moosehead Lake, Rockwood and Lawrence's Lakeside Cabins!

From Boston, take Interstate 95 north to Newport, Maine. At the exit take Route 7 north to the town of Dexter, and then Route 23 north to the town of Guilford. At Guilford, take Route 15 north to Greenville, at the base of Moosehead Lake. At the blinking light, turn left, and follow Route 15 around the lake for 20 miles to the Village of Rockwood. Upon entering the village, make a right-hand turn onto the Rockwood Village Road. At the bottom of the hill, make another right-hand turn at the red log chapel. Follow this dirt road for 1/2 mile, until you see the sign for Lawrence's Lakeside Cabins, on the right.

The alternate route is a bit less direct, takes a bit more time, but is truly scenic, along the Kennebec River. Take Interstate 95 to Skowhegan. At that exit, follow Route 201 north to the town of Jackman. At Jackman, take Route 15 south for 34 miles to Rockwood Village. Make a left-hand turn on the Rockwood Village Road. You will pass the Rockwood Village General Store, the Kineo docks and the U.S. Post Office. Take the dirt road to the left of the red log chapel for 1/2 mile, until you see the sign for Lawrence's Lakeside Cabins.
