Quality fishing, canoe trips, snowshoe trips, and hunting in Mid Coast Maine with your Master Maine Guide, Captain Don Kleiner. The captain has been a registered guide for ten years, as well as an expert fisherman, paddler and hunter, and is eager to share his knowledge with you. Don is also a U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captain, and is the past president of the Maine Professional Guides Association.

We have a variety of lakes, ponds and rivers within a twenty mile radius. Imagine being paddled along a secluded shore, casting for bass while loons call in the distance. ( Parties usually consist of one or two fisherman, but I can accommodate up to four when fishing for perch.) The full day package costs $225, and includes a shore lunch served by your guide; it lasts from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Half-day packages are $125, and there are four to choose from: the morning trip - 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the afternoon trip - 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the evening trip - 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and the early morning trip - 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Maine is gaining recognition as having some of the best bass fishing in the United States. We fish for smallmouths in secluded ponds with rocky shorelines and in clear flowing rivers. The aggressive fish are strong fighters that love to jump. Largemouths are found in weedy ponds and in slow stretches of our rivers. Bass of four or five pounds are not uncommon in our area. The best time to fish for bass is May through September.

We are fortunate to have both brook and brown trout at our doorstep. Browns are heavily stocked in our area, in both lakes and rivers, providing a challenge for the fly fisherman. Brookies are brightly colored natives living in beaver ponds and tea colored streams. The best time to fish for trout is mid-April through June and mid-September through October.

The recovery of striper has been fantastic. Large schools of these strong fish now congregate in our coastal rivers. Offering fast fishing along the beautiful rock-bound coast. Many of these fish are in excess of five pounds. Stripers willingly take either flies or spinning tackle. The best time to fish for stripers is June through September.

Spend half day fishing on local pond, not for trophies, but rather for willing perch. This is a great way to introduce your family to fishing, I'll supply rods, bait and fish, and send you home with a few perch fillets, if you like. You will also take home memories of a fun filled morning or afternoon.
