The Last Resort provides an absolute wilderness atmosphere for the adventurous type that desires to be close to nature and away from the hustle and bustle of suburban and city life.
Nestled among the spruce, cedar, and birch are eight rustic log cabins and a lodge. They are set on our 1/2 mile shore frontage of Long Lake, a 12 mile long, prime salmon and trout waterway, which connects via the famous Moose River to two other pristine lakes. The Last Resort Cove is shallow, safe for children, and an excellent attraction for the moose, deer, otters, ospreys, loons, herons, and Bald Eagles that can be seen from your cabin porch. Binoculars and a camera are a must when visiting the Last Resort. The average daily moose sightings from the cabins during June through August is 4. Boat/motor and canoe rentals are also available.
Our cabins are fully equipped for housekeeping with gas ranges, refrigerators, kerosene and gas lamps, all cooking and eating utensils, and all bedding needed for a comfortable stay. Each cabin has lighting supplied by evening generator powered electricity. The generator, and the electric lights, go off at 10:00 pm when most guests either retire after a full day of fresh air or gaze at the stars from their cabin porches. Most of the cabins have partitioned bedrooms and all are heated by gas heaters. Five gallon spigot water jugs are provided for our sparkling spring water, and each cabin has its own conveniently located, cleanly maintained privy. There are also three centrally located hot water showers.
Our 2001 rates are reasonable: $20 per person per day in May, June, September, and October ($10 under 18 w/adult; under 6 yrs FREE ); $295 - $425 per cabin per week in July and August; and $130 per person per week during November. For more specific cabin/rate information, please call or write for our color brochure - or visit us at http://www.themainelink.com/lastresort/rates.html. .
We hope to see you at The Last Resort, where relaxing, swimming, fishing, canoeing, wind-surfing, hiking, mountain-biking, and wildlife photography are some of the prime-time activities certain to make your vacation truly memorable.
