The Crocker House Country Inn
Hancock, Maine

Lodging and Fine Dining

A view of the Inn

...a little out of the way, and a way out of the ordinary.

The Crocker House Country Inn, tucked away on the peninsula of Hancock Point, was built in 1884 and carefully restored in 1986. Its quiet, out of the way location, fine cuisine and individually appointed guest rooms, each with a private bath, all combine to make the Crocker House a refreshing and memorable experience. Since purchasing the Inn in 1980, we have strived to create an environment that is comfortable and rejuvenating. We have appeared in each edition of Country Inns and Back Roads since 1987.

The Crocker House is conveniently located for visitors to take advantage of the sight-seeing opportunities in Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Hancock County and the rest of Downeast Maine. By car, we are equidistant from both Schoodic Point and Cadillac Mountain. Potters, weavers and woodworkers are found throughout the area. Antiquing opportunities, like lobster pounds, abound. Information regarding symphony and chamber concerts, auctions, plays and community events is available in our lobby. In addition, Campobello Island and the Canadian border are but a two-hour drive. We are convenient to both the Bar Harbor/Trenton (15 miles) and Bangor (42 miles) airports. Cars can be rented at each location.

Hancock Point is a small summer community where guests can experience a relaxing way of life reminiscent of past memories. Within easy walking distance are an octagonal library, the second smallest post office in the United States, a 100-year old summer chapel, and four clay tennis courts. Bordered by Frenchman Bay on the south and east and the Skillings River to the west, Hancock Point is small enough so that all roads lead to the water.

Relax in your room

As is the tradition of country inns, each of the rooms at the Crocker House is unique. We have eleven newly redecorated guest rooms, all suggesting the mood and style of a cherished era gone by. There are 3 rooms with King sized beds, 6 with Queen sized beds, one room with 2 double beds and one room with 1 double bed. All rooms have a private bath with a shower and an out-going telephone. Moorings are available for guests who arrive by sea, and a kayak and a few bicycles are on hand for guests' convenience.
