Wonderview Cottages are located on US Route 1 and Maine Route 3, just 2-1/2 miles east of Belfast, Maine. Situated just off the main road on ten acres of shorefront property, there are ample grounds to insure your privacy and quiet.
All of the cottages have a magnificent view of the Penobscot Bay and its islands, an area considered by many to be one of the most typical and picturesque sections of coastal New England. Our shore faces due south, the best exposure for sun and the cool sea breezes of Maine. The beach is mostly rocky, Penobscot Bay being noted for walking and beach-combing rather than swimming. However, at low tide, there is a considerable stretch of sand for the hearty. For most of the season, our guests may enjoy watching the seals which congregate just off our beach, or the numerous lobster boats and sailboats which dot the bay.
We have 20 comfortably furnished cottages, with one to three bedrooms, all of which are designed for happy, carefree vacations. All of the cottages have city supplied water, modern baths with tubs and showers, color cable TV, automatic heat, wall-to-wall carpeting, complete kitchens with all the necessary utensils, screened-in porches, and private lawn furniture and picnic tables. Eighteen of the cottages have fire places or wood burning stoves. All linens and blankets are provided, and cribs are available upon request. There is a play area for children located in the center of our grounds. Pets are welcome, but should be restrained, and must never be left unattended in cottages.
Belfast is ideally located midway on the coast of Maine. Besides the events and attractions listed elsewhere, the Penobscot Bay area has much to offer. Sailing is excellent, and sailboat excursions are available nearby. Deep-sea fishing and whale watching can be found within an hour's drive. There are 2 nine hole golf courses only 15 minutes away. Wonderview Cottages are located only 3 miles from Searsport, one of Maine's antique centers. There are many, many, fine lobster pounds close at hand, including one within walking distance. During the summer months, there are several fruit and vegetable stands and 2 flea markets nearby.
