Hinckley's cottages are part of the rustic tradition of Downeast coastal Maine. At Hinckley's, a family of 2 to 8 people can enjoy the comfort and privacy of its own summer cottage on Mount Desert Island. If you like country style vacations, select and reserve one of our housekeeping units.

Your children are especially welcome here! We are located on the Route 3, just two miles from the entrance to Acadia National Park. The forest-like setting at Hinckley's will be striking as soon as you arrive. Our 6½ acres are totally secluded; no houses or structures can be seen in any direction. Our spacious grounds are perfect for a quiet stroll and hikers can enjoy the one hundred miles of marked trails on Mount Desert Island. We are just a short walk to the local general store, restaurants, and gift shops; and a quick 3 mile ride to the excitement of downtown Bar Harbor.

Enjoy that wilderness feeling as you relax in our swimming pool. The pool is heated and is filtered 24 hours a day. The near end of the pool is 7 feet deep and the line pattern can be seen on the bottom. Relax at pool side in our reclining chairs and experience the rustic atmosphere. Pool hours are from daylight to 9:30 p.m.

All children must be accompanied by a parent.
For the safety of are guests, no horseplay is allowed!

About our Cottages

Our quaint white and green cottages are tucked away in a storybook woodland setting, and are pleasantly rustic, clean and comfortable. No two are alike. Our 29 units include one, two, and four bedroom cottages, and private or duplex motel cottages. All are private and well spaced from one another, and are shaded by fall pine and oak trees. Each cottage is carpeted and has either Queen or King size beds. Some of our cottages have working fireplaces and screened-in porches.

All one and two bedroom cabins have their own 26 channel color TV sets in each bedroom. Four bed units have TVs in the living room only. All mattresses are firm, and in excellent condition; extra pillows are available-- just ask us. Bedding and linen are supplied, and we change towels daily. For longer stays, linens are exchanged upon request. Kitchens are country style, and include toasters and coffee-makers. Basic cooking utensils are included, but you may wish to bring some of your own for special cooking needs, or if your party is a large one. Dishwashing soap is supplied. Cabins with kitchens have partial maid service daily. Cabins with no kitchens have full maid service daily. All cabins are individually heated, and most have window air-conditions.
