.....Hanscom's Motel & Cottages has been a favorite destination for families vacationing in the Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park region since the early 1950's.
.....The Cottages & units were built by Elwood "Hap" Hanscom and have been operated by three generations of Hanscoms. We are year round residents of Mt. Desert Island and have a great knowledge of all the activities this beautiful island has to offer. You will always be able to find a Hanscom family member on the grounds to help you with your questions.
.....We are centrally located and only a short distance from all the things you'll want to do and see on your vacation. Only 1 ½ miles to the main entrance to Acadia National Park, 2 ½ miles to the Bluenose Ferry Terminal, and 3 miles to the village of Bar Harbor. In Acadia you can find a wide array of activities to keep you busy: sunbathing on the Sand Beach, vigorous hiking trails or casual strolls along the carriage paths, biking, or driving the scenic loop trail and taking in the summit of Cadillac Mtn.
.....The Bluenose Ferry Terminal offers day trips to Nova Scotia, Canada, as well as overnight excursions. If you're arriving late off the boat, call ahead, we're only a short distance away! Bar Harbor has many excursion trips: sailing, whale watching, nature cruises, etc. There are many shopping opportunities as well as delights for the hungry.


.....We have 12 cottages and motel units on a large piece of property with attractively landscaped grounds which provide our guests with both privacy and beauty. We have a shaded picnic area with tables and gas grills for your enjoyment. An outdoor heated swimming pool with sundeck is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. You'll enjoy our flower gardens and the many giant red oak trees that dominate our property .
A five minute walk to a private rocky beach with a wonderful view of Frenchmans Bay offers you the tranquility you deserve on your vacation. While on the beach you'll discover the same experience at the picturesque owens and Cathedral Rock. We are within 1 mile of restaurants, lobster pounds, Adventure golf and 2 general stores. The shortcut to the other side of the island is the next road down from us.

.....All cottages and units have full bathrooms with showers, color cable TV, in room coffee, fans, electric heat and refrigerators. We have 2 bedroom motel units which are perfect for families of four. Our quaint cottages comfortably sleep 2-3 people. All of our accommodations are full housekeeping with clean linens daily. We also provide utensils and cookware for guests who decide to take advantage of our picnic area.
.....We are open from May 1st to a week after Columbus Day. We are an affordable, comfortable, centrally located alternative to downtown Bar Harbor.
